Functional Movement Systems
At Carolina Athletic Development (CAD) individuals are screened using The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and LEVELS system. The FMS is the product of an exercise philosophy known as Functional Movement Systems, originally created by Gray Cook. The LEVELS system is exclusive to CAD and is the product of Lee Howard who has developed an injury prevention and training concept individualized to the participant. These exercise philosophies are based on sound science, years of innovation, and current research.
How it Works – Simplifying Movement
The FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents essential movement patterns key to normal function.
The FMS identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness.
The FMS generates the Functional Movement Screen Score, which identifies total body strengths and weaknesses in mobility, stability and motor control
CAD monitors The FMS score to track progress and identify exercises most effective to restore proper movement and build strength in each individual.
